Evolution Hose

With productivity, reliability and safety being crucial to any operation, ensuring your hose assemblies are well maintained is essential. Integrity management is a life cycle application relevant to all phases of an asset's life.

Integrity is a holistic requirement defined by a philosophy that sets strategies, procedures and management systems that will ensure the safe, cost effective and reliable operation of an asset.

Full traceability is key to the success of efficient hose management and is fundamental in the offshore industry where validation processes must be maintained.

A good Hose Integrity Management System database is essential for:

  • Maintaining a register of hoses;
  • Monitoring the life of each hose;
  • Hose criticality analysis and risk assessment;
  • Maintain a record of all testing and inspections of each hose;
  • Details of the equipment used for testing and the calibration records of any test equipment utilised;

Strategy

A maintenance, inspection and replacement strategy should be developed covering the management of all relevant FHAs (Flexible Hose Assembly) should include:

  • Development and maintenance of a hose register
  • Tagging of all FHAs;
  • Maintenance
  • Inspection, and Replacement

FHA Register

The FHA register should provide an inventory of all FHAs including the collating of historical performance data.

Tagging

Each FHA should be identified with a unique identification number physically attached to the hose such a s a RFID tag and the tag information should be consistent with the register data.

Inspection Strategy

All FHAs should be inspected on a regular on-going basis in accordance with a risk based inspection programme. The inspection
programme should include both a physical inspection and collation of data for the FHA register, in order to provide historical records to enable future planning of inspection routines to be better informed. The inspection frequency of a given FHA will be influence by:

  • Critically of service
  • Consequence of failure
  • The environment the FHA is operating in;
  • Service duration; and Manufacture’s recommendations
